 Kernow Tuition can act as an Alternative Provision for children who are not currently able to attend school full time, including those who have been permanently excluded or are awaiting a placement. All teaching is delivered on a one-to-one basis and can take place in the student’s home, in our Kernow Tuition centre in Nansledan (Newquay, Cornwall), or within the student’s enrolled school or a local community venue such as a family hub. Programmes can combine or move between these locations to support gradual reintegration and to meet the individual needs of each learner. Our provision can also be commissioned as part of an Out of School or EOTAS package where appropriate. 

 Our tuition is planned around a personalised curriculum that reflects each learner’s starting point, interests and individual needs. Qualified teachers carry out ongoing assessment to identify strengths, gaps in learning and next steps, and adjust teaching accordingly. Where a student has an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP), learning objectives are closely aligned with the agreed outcomes and any recommended interventions. We work with families, schools and external professionals to ensure that teaching is purposeful, measurable and supports both academic progress and wider personal development. 

 At Kernow Tuition we provide individual, one-to-one tuition for children who are educated at home. Our home-schooling support is delivered by qualified teachers, and is designed around each student’s educational needs, interests and personal routines. We create flexible learning timetables, provide half termly feedback on progress and next steps, and set purposeful home learning activities where appropriate. To ensure students continue to make good progress, termly assessments are carried out and we offer regular opportunities for parent updates. Where a student is temporarily out of school or awaiting a new placement, we are able to liaise with schools and other professionals to help maintain continuity.
