Since founding Kernow Tuition Limited, I have been thrilled to develop a bespoke one-to-one tutoring service here in Cornwall, dedicated to supporting each child as an individual. I am passionate about understanding the unique story of every learner and creating an approach that truly meets their needs, whether academically, socially, or emotionally. I love working alongside a team of exceptional tutors and educators who share my commitment to individualized learning and helping children, including those with special educational needs, reach their full potential. Collaboration with parents, carers, and other professionals is central to everything we do, ensuring that each child receives consistent and thoughtful support. Administration & Finance Manager
Amy McDonald brings over 20 years of experience in bookkeeping and administrative roles to Kernow Tuition. She holds a BSc (Hons) in Early Years Development and Education and a PGCert specialising in Autism, equipping her with a deep understanding of diverse learner needs, particularly for those with special educational needs. Amy is passionate about ensuring that Kernow Tuition operates with clear, efficient systems, which allows the team to focus on delivering high-quality education through individualized learning and one-to-one tutoring. She also understands the complexities that many of our families face, enabling her to provide empathetic support and practical guidance whenever needed.
Outside of work, Amy enjoys spending time in the countryside. She also has a creative side and enjoys building with LEGO, reflecting her love of problem-solving and attention to detail—qualities she brings to her role at Kernow Tuition.
Tuition Co-Ordinator &DDSL
Rebecca Olive has been a qualified teacher for 20 years, specializing in individualized learning. Her teaching career began in Derbyshire, where she taught for eight years before moving to Cornwall in 2001 and working in a number of schools. She spent ten years at a Cornish school as a Class Teacher, Literacy Lead, and for a period, shared the role of Assistant Headteacher. Rebecca joined Kernow Tuition to focus on one-to-one tutoring, allowing her to dedicate time to meet each student’s individual needs in a relaxed, creative, and supportive learning environment. She is particularly passionate about English and literacy and enjoys helping students build confidence and achieve their goals, including those with special educational needs.
As Tuition Co-ordinator, Rebecca enjoys collaborating with all of our tutors to assess students’ needs and design bespoke tuition packages tailored to each learner. Outside of work, she enjoys walking the stunning Cornish coastal paths with her husband and their dog, sea swimming with friends, and exploring new places in their motorhome, “Eddie.” An avid reader and theatre-goer, Rebecca enjoys everything from Shakespeare and Alan Bennett to musicals, pantomimes, comedy performances, and live music.
